The L’BEAM group worked extremely well together. We started with the Group Google site where ideas flowed freely. We quickly established a focus for the PSA and started to plan the production phases. We had a script outline by the end of Week 3 which allowed the person responsible for doing the video segments to get started. The group made contact via the group Google site, email and phone calls to iron out specific issues. The entire group was invested in producing a quality product. Each week we updated the Google site and related documents so all members were prepared and knew what was happening. We defined a project schedule in Week 3 and followed it so we were able to provide the final editor the shots and recorded script by the end of Week 4.
As we approach the final video we have struggled with the upload of files that are ready to use in the video platform we are using to produce the final video. The group member responsible for the video production applied great trouble shooting techniques to get it all working. The biggest change I would like to see is more focus on the students and with enough time to plan and prepare, we would have been able to do this.
The license assures that in the future out group PSA licensed as L’BEAM will be protected for its intellectual properties.
This experience was excellent for learning about the online collaboration tools. The use of Google Docs, Google Sites and Google Drive provided us with the tools to make the distance work go smoothly. It was most interesting to be working in the Google doc simultaneously with another group member and get a conversation going. Everyone has been considerate of time and met deadlines to assure the success of the group work.
